Hard Brick T989 Galaxy S2 for T-Mobile – JTAG Repair Unbrick solution for USA – Hard Bricked Fix SII – Riff Box
The Galaxy S2 is still one of my all time favorites!
As we all know Samsung and Carriers dictate how many variants of a phone model will be on the market, in our case the Samsung S2 T989 belongs in the U.S. Market under the T-Mobile carrier.
Development for custom Roms and modifications for the T989 are plentiful , it’s a very active community… but unfortunately it’s also one of the most popular models that I JTAG.
The T989 is one of the most popular phones that I JTAG.
Because the T989 is so popular in our market and development is very active , the T989 has become one of the most popular models that I JTAG on a daily basis.
It’s also one of my favorite phones to JTAG… The Jpads are big compared to other S2 or S3 phones which makes soldering the JTAG wires a breeze… I would say that I have over a 95% success ratio when Jtagging the T989 which is pretty good ! ( others are not successful because of hardware failures )
How people brick…
Before customers send in their phone I like to gather some basic information and ask a few questions, the most important question is ” What were you doing when your phone bricked?”
I say it’s the most important question because it determines if the phone is potentially Hard Bricked or if Hardware Failure is the culprit.
Here are the top reasons people brick the T989 :
- They flashed an international I9100 ROM on their T989 (This is the most frequent answer I get).
- ODIN froze while trying to flash a ROM and they detached/turned off the phone .
- They flashed a wrong kernel
Like I said before in other blog posts… all it takes is a small distraction, I’m not here to judge because it happens to the best of us, but I hope by posting this information people become more aware of what might potentially kill their phone.
If you have a Hard Bricked T989 and you know Hardware or Water Damage is not at fault contact me through the ” Contace Me” link in the main menu to setup a JTAG repair… the T989 deserves a shot at being resurrected!
